As a materials tester, your specialist knowledge is in constant demand. You will be involved in deciding which material is suitable for new products and how process parameters are defined. Precise checks using destructive or non-destructive testing methods are required to verify component quality.
When analyzing damage, you will find the cause through detailed and detailed work. In your day-to-day work, you will work in an interdisciplinary manner with other departments (e.g. development, hot forming, heat treatment, machining) or travel to customers on business trips. The important foundations will be laid during your training: You will learn every step of the way, from sampling and sample preparation to various testing options. This includes hardness testing, tensile testing, light microscopy and many other exciting topics.

As a materials tester, you are an expert in all questions relating to metal technology and are familiar with various testing and analysis methods. In a varied daily routine, you will assess the quality of products, investigate cases of damage or optimize production processes. A specialization, e.g. as a metal material, crack inspector or quality inspector (m/f/d) or a 2-year further training course to become a materials technology technician (m/f/d) will subsequently offer you a wide range of opportunities for further positions.
