The park lock wheel is part of the park locking mechanism installed in automatic transmissions. It prevents the vehicle from rolling away unintentionally by mechanically locking the transmission shaft. The locking process is activated by moving the transmission selector lever into the park position (P position). The pawl, which is firmly connected to the transmission housing, is inserted positively into the park lock wheel by means of a mechanical or electrical actuator, thus blocking the rotation of the shaft and thus the movement of the wheels.
