Ercsi

The town of Ercsi was already mentioned in records 2000 years ago. According to oral tradition, it was named after an Avar chieftain called Erch-Ercs. It is located in the north-eastern part of Fejér County, on the right bank of the Danube, in the southern part of the Érd-Ercsi ridge belonging to Mezőföld. The municipality has been growing since 1970 and was granted city status in 2000. Many public facilities in the town helped the population grow. The proximity to the capital attracted many people as commuters.
